THIS WEEK'S POETRY PUBLICATIONS
Modern Frustration
By: Josette Schneider
A long flicker of heat soars through a labyrinth of lush
Carving erratic script into a world of brush
As the molten tail surges with no time to spare
The curious bird breathes a bitter, pungent air
Onlookers glance across the simmering sea
Skyscrapers waving steel hands at me.
Frosted fingers signal to the breast of the tree
Soil shrouded with plastic crumbs of humanity.
A checkered ball rests on the green path of youth
Awoken to see the grave rubble of truth
The former dandelion bed
Now topped with cement pillows and a streak of dark red
Like the molten tail, the days fly by
Begging inhabitants to bat a shy eye
The tired sphere goes on its daily churn
And in my safe nook, I toss and turn.
